Usually, you need to be an electricity customer with a grid-connected renewable generator, have the installation properly notified or connected through ESB Networks, and meet your supplier’s metering and technical requirements. Your supplier generally uses smart-meter export readings to calculate the Clean Export Guarantee (CEG); where smart-meter data is unavailable, deemed-export rules may apply in limited cases. The installation must comply with applicable microgeneration limits and network requirements, and a SEAI solar PV grant is not normally a condition of receiving export payments. Check your supplier’s current CEG terms and ESB Networks guidance, as the final arrangements depend on your connection, meter and supplier.
